Job summary

HIRANI is seeking a skilled Scientist or Lab Analyst to join the clinical testing team. The role involves routine testing, samples handling, and operating automated analyzers. You will use LIMS daily, maintain records, ensure QC and CoSHH compliance, and support quality audits.

A Biochemistry or life sciences degree and 1 year relevant experience are required; visa sponsorship is not offered. Experience with automated analysers and a private healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine clinical testing and use of LIMS.

• Maintain analytical records accurately.
• Ensure chain of custody procedures are followed.
• Routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation.
• Prepare specimens for transportation to other laboratories.
• Troubleshoot technical issues in Clinical Diagnostic Testing.
• Ensure daily quality control checks meet internal criteria.
• Participate in Quality Audits.

Job description

This role is responsible for routine clinical testing in our laboratory. The main duties of the role include:

• Routine use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs).
• The performance of various analytical procedures including various manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests.
• The preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents.
• The operation of various automated analytical systems such as Rx Daytona Plus, Rx Imola and Siemens Immulite XPi.
• The accurate maintenance of analytical records.
• Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process.
• The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.
• The preparation of specimens for transportation to ensure that their stability is safeguarded during shipment to the appropriate analytical laboratory.
• Perform troubleshooting on technical issues associated with Clinical Diagnostic Testing.
• Ensuring that all the necessary Quality Control checks are completed daily and that they meet internal criteria.
• Participation in Quality Audits.
• Qualified to at least degree level in Biochemistry or a life science.
• Demonstrable experience of working with strong attention to detail.
