Job summary

Wirral Metropolitan College is seeking a Health Science Lecturer (Biology) to join our team on a 35-hour week, full-time, permanent basis. The role will involve delivering biology-focused teaching, developing schemes of work and assessing students.

You will contribute to personal tutoring or programme leadership, support high achievement, and participate in quality assurance and team activities. A relevant degree and teaching qualification are preferred, with FE experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience of teaching, training or assessing groups of students.
• Sound grasp of relevant teaching strategies and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Carry out formal scheduled teaching.
• Undertake a personal tutor and/or programme leader role to groups of students to maintain high achievement rates.
• Prepare schemes of work, session plans and learning materials.
• Carry out student assessments and mark students’ work and examinations and provide feedback to students and set targets for improvement.
• Carry out internal quality assurance.
• Work as part of the team in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of all aspects of the programmes.
