Job summary

Eden Brown Synergy is seeking a part-time Biology Lecturer for a Further Education College in West Yorkshire to deliver high-quality teaching across Level 2 and Level 3 Applied Science. The role is temporary and starts asap, ~2.5–3 days per week, until October half term.

You will help students develop theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills, assess progress and support exam preparation, while upholding college quality standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biology or closely related subject.
• Experience teaching Biology in Further Education or similar.
• Experience delivering Level 2/3 Applied Science.
• Strong biology knowledge applicable to vocational programmes.
• Experience delivering practical lab-based teaching.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/DTLLS) desirable.
• Strong communication, organisation and classroom management.
• Passion for supporting learners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Biology and Applied Science lessons to Level 2 and 3.
• Teach a range of biological topics relevant to Applied Science.
• Develop students' theoretical knowledge and practical lab skills.
• Prepare and run practical experiments ensuring health and safety.
• Assess student work, provide feedback, monitor progress.
• Support exam preparation and assessments.
• Maintain accurate attendance and progression records.
• Offer guidance to help learners reach their potential.
• Contribute to course planning, development and quality improvement.
• Collaborate with Science and Applied Science colleagues.
• Ensure teaching meets college quality standards.

Eden Brown are seeking an enthusiastic Biology Lecturer for a Further Education College in West Yorkshire to join their Applied Science Team

This is a part time temporary role to start asap. Looking for someone around 2.5-3 days per week. Initially this will be until October half term

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Level 2 and Level 3 Applied Science, supporting students to develop their theoretical knowledge, practical laboratory skills and understanding of biological principles.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Biology professional who enjoys working with young people and is committed to helping students achieve their academic and vocational goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Biology and Applied Science lessons to Level 2 and Level 3 students.
• Teach a range of biological topics relevant to the Applied Science curriculum.
• Develop students theoretical knowledge alongside practical laboratory skills.
• Prepare and deliver practical experiments and activities in line with health and safety requirements.
• Assess students work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress.
• Support students in preparing for examinations and assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and learner progress.
• Provide appropriate support and guidance to students to help them reach their full potential.
• Contribute to course planning, development and quality improvement activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science and Applied Science department.
• Ensure all teaching and learning meets the colleges quality standards and expectations.

The Ideal Candidate

• A relevant degree or recognised qualification in Biology, Biological Sciences or a closely related subject.
• Teaching experience within Further Education, sixth form or a similar educational setting.
• Experience delivering Level 2 and/or Level 3 Applied Science.
• Strong subject knowledge across Biology and the ability to apply this to vocational Science programmes.
• Experience delivering practical laboratory-based teaching.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent is desirable.
• Strong communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting learners and helping them achieve their goals
