Job summary

Astute People are partnering with a leading UK business in anaerobic digestion to recruit an experienced Plant Manager for their North Northamptonshire site. The role offers up to £65,000, life assurance, an employer pension and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will lead process optimisation, manage feedstock planning, and ensure safety and COMAH compliance while developing a team of operators and engineers. A full UK driving licence and relevant engineering qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in anaerobic digestion or similar heavy processing at managerial level.
• Experience on a COMAH regulated site.
• Mobile Plant licence or time served experience.
• WAMITAB or willingness to work towards.
• NEBOSH or willingness to train towards.
• Full UK Driving Licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Optimising process plant operations and planning.
• Managing feedstock processing and planning.
• Weekly and monthly reporting of plant efficiency, trends and analysing data.
• Providing safety and environmental standards, HAZOP, DSEAR, ATEX controls.
• Managing site in COMAH compliance.
• Drafting RAMS and being accountable for HSE.
• Site maintenance and coordination of PPM; on-call and weekend shifts.
• Cost control and budgeting; managing external contractors.

Job description

Astute's Renewable Energy team is partnering with a UK leading business in anaerobic digestion that provides cost-effective, low carbon, food and organic waste management. We are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Manager for their site in North Northamptonshire.

The strategically important Plant Manager role comes with a salary of up to £65,000, life assurance, employer pension and additional benefits package.

If you're an experienced Plant Manager who has experience with COMAH regulations and are looking to work for a leading business within the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Manager role

• Reporting to the Area Manager you will:
• Optimising process plant operations
• Managing feedstock processing and planning
• Weekly and monthly reporting of plant efficiency, trends and analysing data
• Providing the highest level of safety and environmental standards, HAZOP, DSEAR, ATEX control measures
• Managing the site in compliance with COMAH regulations
• Providing solutions to technical variances
• Site maintenance and coordination of PPM
• Be part of on call and weekend shift cover
• Be responsible for cost control and budgets
• Managing external contractors when necessary
• Drafting RAMS and being accountable for HSE
• Managing the relationships with external bodies, such as the Environmental Agency
• Managing on site colleagues, such as Operators and Engineers and be responsible for development and training
• Capable of first line mechanical maintenance and raising more complex faults to an on-call-team
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

• Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, such as chemical or mechanical is an advantage
• Mobile Plant (telehandler, loading shovel) licence or time served experience
• WAMITAB or a willingness to work towards
• NEBOSH or willingness to train towards
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential

Personal skills

• Experienced in anaerobic digestion or a similar heavy processing environment at a managerial or supervisory level
• Experience working on a COMAH regulated site
• Hands on a leads by example
• Excellent computer literacy
• A mentality towards a continuous improvement and a genuine passion for the industry
• Excellent people management skills
