Job summary

United Utilities is offering a Biodiversity Intern role in the Integrated Water Management team in Warrington. This 12-month fixed-term internship supports nature recovery projects across the North West, delivering hands-on experience in protected habitats, invasive non-native species management, biodiversity net gain and environmental investigations.

Applicants should be on track for a 2:1 Environmental degree, in their penultimate year, with strong planning, organisation and communication

Qualifications

• Pursuing a minimum 2:1 degree in an environmental field.
• Penultimate year of university study.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Biodiversity Team with the rollout of the biodiversity strategy; leading on specific actions where appropriate.
• Track our performance against governmental and company targets; ensure progress is on track.
• Produce reports for regulators on progress against statutory duties.
• Support delivery of action plans for invasive non-native species management.
• Develop engagement materials for stakeholders to promote nature recovery.
• Assist senior managers on complex projects.
• Collaborate with external partners and local authorities.
