We have a vacancy for a Bioconjugation Scientist to join our Bioconjugation Chemistry team in Cambridge (UK). In this lab-based role, you will work as part of a team on client-facing, often short-term projects in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Abzena offers comprehensive solutions from early discovery to mid-phase biotherapeutic and ADC drug development services. We work with a diverse range of clients, including academic groups, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies, on various drug types such as antibodies, fusion proteins, and bioconjugates. Our goal is to support the development and manufacture of better treatments for patients. The Bioconjugation Group in Cambridge provides conjugation solutions supporting ADC, AOC, and other bioconjugate development programs. Using established chemistries and our next-generation platform ThioBridge, we design, synthesize, and produce ADCs from mg to g scale for evaluation by our Bioassay and Analytics groups.
Ideal candidates will hold a BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Protein Biochemistry, or related fields, with strong lab skills and at least 2 years of industrial experience. Relevant skills include bioconjugation of small molecules to antibodies and proteins, purification techniques, analytical characterization methods, and experience with process development at g scale is desirable. Proficiency with MS Office and specialized software such as Chromeleon, Unify, MassLynx, Dotmatics, and ChemDraw is expected. An understanding of the ADC field and drug development process is also important.
You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, with good planning, organization, and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to analyze and resolve routine problems are essential. You will contribute to research and development efforts and maintain clear documentation.
