PharmaEssentia is a global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing innovative therapies to address unmet medical needs in oncology, hematology, and immunology. We are expanding our research capabilities and seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our Biologics Platform team as a Scientist, Biologics and Analytics. This role focuses on recombinant protein expression, purification, comprehensive protein analysis, developability, and stability assessments using biophysical techniques. The successful candidate will support the discovery and development of biotherapeutics, including antibodies, cytokines, engineered multi-functional proteins, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in protein expression systems, purification strategies, and biophysical/biochemical characterization methods, with a collaborative approach to advancing our biologics pipeline.

Responsibilities

1. Design, express, and purify recombinant proteins and biologics to support research and early development programs.
2. Lead analytical, developability, and stability assessments of biologics using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, SEC, BLI/SPR, and ELISA.
3. Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot protocols for biologics and analytics workflows.
4. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
5. Participate in project teams, identify critical experiments, and contribute to an innovative product portfolio.
6. Assess and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry or related biological sciences with 2+ years post-graduate experience in biologics discovery and development.
• Hands-on experience in biologics production using mammalian expression systems (e.g., HEK293 or CHO cells).
• Proficiency in protein purification techniques including affinity, ion exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography.
• Expertise in protein analytical techniques such as UV-VIS, SEC-HPLC, RP-HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF/IEX DLS, and DSF.
• Experience with automated systems like AKTA for protein purification.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with antibody engineering, multi-specific antibody formats, or Fc-fusion proteins.
• Knowledge of developability assessments and early characterization assays.
• Familiarity with bioconjugation, purification, and characterization processes for ADC development.
• Experience with automation platforms for high-throughput workflows.
