VolkerLaser is seeking an experienced Bid Writer/Manager to lead end-to-end bid delivery across UK projects. You will develop compelling tender responses, case studies and supporting documentation in collaboration with operational, commercial and technical teams.

The role requires strong writing and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and build effective relationships with stakeholders across the business.

VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

About the role

Join VolkerLaser and play a key role in securing high-profile structural solutions projects across the UK. We specialise in strengthening and waterproofing concrete and steel structures, delivering tailored solutions for a wide range of clients.

We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer or Bid Manager to manage the full Bid lifecycle, producing high-quality, compelling and compliant submissions. Working closely with operational, commercial and technical teams, you'll develop tender responses, case studies, CVs and supporting documentation that showcase our expertise.

This role would suit an established Bid Writer looking to progress or an experienced Bid Manager seeking a new challenge. You'll be a strong communicator with excellent attention to detail, able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and build effective relationships with stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end bid delivery ensuring full compliance and governance
• Run kick-offs and progress meetings, coordinate review stages, and ensure actions are completed to quality standards
• Plan and manage bid programmes, milestones, dependencies and deliverables across multiple bids
• Develop bid strategies, win themes and response plans aligned to client priorities and scoring criteria
• Write clear, tailored bid content and collate supporting evidence
• Research, co-ordinate and gather information from subject matter experts to support technical requirements and enhance written responses
• Produce project case studies, team CVs and technical content for bids.
• Ensure consistent messaging, tone and terminology across all bid content.
• Handle portal queries, clarifications and document uploads.
• Arrange bid reviews and strengthen content based on feedback.
• Manage time effectively to meet review and submission deadlines.
• Contribute to lessons‑learned reviews and continuous improvement.
• Proofread and format bid content to ensure accuracy and quality.

About you

• Strong bid writing and management experience with excellent attention to detail - ideally a minimum 4 years’ experience as a Bid Writer or Bid Manager
• Advanced writing ability with a focus on shaping high-quality responses and supporting content
• Highly organised, able to collaborate, influence and manage multiple deadlines and workloads
• A strong sense of ownership, accountability and commitment to compliance
• Able to analyse information and communicate clearly and succinctly
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all levels
• Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
• Proactive, eager to learn and committed to continuous improvement
