Job summary

Cannock Chase Council and Stafford Borough Council are seeking a Benefits Assessor for the Benefits Service to process Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support claims, including recovery of overpayments. You will assess claims from customers in Temporary Accommodation and Supported Accommodation, with occasional site work across Cannock Chase and Stafford Borough.

Eligibility includes GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above, ability to work in a team and on own initiative, and

Qualifications

• Experience of assessing Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Reduction claims.
• Able to work accurately and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
• GCSEs in Mathematics and English at Grade C or above or equivalent vocational or academic experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess housing benefit claims, primarily from customers in Temporary Accommodation.
• Assess claims for Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support.
• Work in the shared Benefits Service across Cannock Chase and Stafford Borough sites.
