Job summary

Equals One Ltd is seeking a Bench Engineer/Field Service Engineer to repair, service and maintain wheelchairs, combining workshop duties with occasional field work in the Cambridge area.

You will process repairs, paperwork and warranty returns, support clinical appointments, and adhere to infection control and company procedures. A full driving licence and an enhanced DBS are required; background in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Full Driving Licence required.
• Ideally GCSE level / NVQ level 1 or equivalent.
• Satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role.
• Background and experience in mechanical or electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Repair, service and maintain wheelchairs in workshop and field-based work.
• Process all paperwork concerning repairs and servicing daily.
• Label and collate warranty and scrap returns at end of day.
• Follow infection control policy at all times.
• Undertake engineering work in service and refurbishment as prescribed – training provided.
• Assist in clinical appointments with healthcare professionals for repairs/servicing.
• Adhere to operational procedures and housekeeping.
• Be on on-call engineer rota with standby/ hourly payment.

Bench Engineer/Field Service Engineer

Salary: £26,561 pa

Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Location: Huntington Cambridge PE29 7DH

Purpose Of Job

Provide a workshop-based engineering role repairing, servicing and maintaining wheelchairs to include field based work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct repairs servicing and maintenance as directed by the Operations Manager/ Warehouse Manager/ Line Manager.
• Process all associated paperwork concerning repairs and servicing accurately on a daily basis.
• Ensure all warranty and scrap returns are labelled correctly and collated at the end of each day.
• Ensure infection control policy is followed at all times.
• Undertake Engineering work in terms of service and repairs, and refurbishment in accordance to prescription builds – Training will be provided
• Assist in clinical appointments with healthcare professionals, for any repairs and servicing requirements.
• Undertake Admin duties as required.
• Ensure all parts used are allocated from Stores through Stores process.
• Strict adherence to operational procedures.
• Adhere to the House Keeping procedure.
• Maintain a professional approach in all aspects of the role at all times including appearance, paperwork, power tools, work bench station and company vehicle.
• Our objective is to do the job right, on time, every time.
• Stocktake – to assist with annual and interim stocktakes as required.
• Communicate effectively with all Customers at all times and to inform all Customers of relevant additional services
• To be fully accountable for all aspects of your role and maintain good communication throughout.
• Perform duties according to all Company policies, procedures and instructions.
• Be on the on-call engineer rota – additional standby/and hourly payment received for this.
