TeacherActive is recruiting a Behavioural Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEND school in Nottingham supporting pupils aged 3-16 with autism/ ASD. The role involves managing challenging behaviours, encouraging engagement in learning and providing consistent support inside and outside the classroom.

The successful candidate will have a TA qualification (or equivalent SEND experience) and strong communication skills to work with staff, pupils and families.

Location: Nottingham Start Date: ASAP 2026 Salary: £95-£100 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school based in Nottingham, which caters for children and young people aged 3-16 years old with a variety of behaviours and SEND. The school provides a specialist learning environment where pupils receive support tailored to their individual educational, social and emotional needs

. The successful Behavioural Teaching Assistant will support pupils with Autism / ASD, helping to manage challenging behaviours, encourage positive engagement in learning and provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom.

The successful Behavioural Teaching Assistant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience working within SEND settings

• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism / ASD

• Experience managing challenging behaviour and implementing positive behaviour management strategies

• Knowledge of SEND support strategies and an understanding of pupils' individual learning needs

• Excellent communication and classroom management skills

• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people
