Axcis Education is recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in a Brentford area school. The role focuses on building positive relationships, re-engaging students with learning, and using activities like sport and board games to maintain engagement.
You should have experience with SEMH settings, be patient and resilient, and able to work Monday to Friday during term time.
Location: Brentford area
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–3:30pm | Friday, 8:30am–3:00pm
Start Date: 30th November
Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is currently working with a school in the Brentford area that is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to support secondary‑aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as vulnerable students. The school is looking for someone who is a strong match for the students, rather than simply someone to fill a Teaching Assistant position. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience working with SEMH students and be confident in building positive relationships with young people who may have become disengaged from education. This role would suit someone who is active, enthusiastic and able to engage students through activities such as sport, board games and other interests, while helping them re‑engage with learning, develop positive routines and build confidence.
The school is part of a larger trust and invests heavily in its staff, facilities and the quality of education it provides to students. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive setting where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who need additional support.
This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.
Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.
The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As such, you will be required to provide an up to date DBS, or be prepared to allow Axcis to process one on your behalf, in addition to other mandatory compliance checks in line with the DfE guidelines (for details please see our website).
If the position you are applying for involves working with children or vulnerable adults, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short‑term and long‑term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview with Axcis to demonstrate your suitability for this role.
