Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Behavioural Support Assistant for SEMH and mentorship across local secondary schools in the UK. The role is full-time, term-time, with daily rates between GBP90 and GBP95 and weekly pay.

Start date is immediate or next term, with typical school hours around 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. You will work with students in Key Stage 3 and 4, providing 1:1 and small group mentorship, de-escalation strategies, and collaboration with SENCO and pastoral leads.

Position: Full:Time, Long:Term (Term Time Only)

Salary: GBP90 : GBP95 per day (Weekly Pay : dependent on experience)

We are seeking dedicated Behavioural Mentors to work with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7:11). Your Role as a Behavioural Mentor

As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you are a role model and a guide, helping students navigate the complexities of school life.

  • De:escalation and Support: Recognise triggers and use low:level de:escalation techniques to prevent classroom disruptions and keep students on task.
  • 1:1 and Small Group Mentorship: Work closely with specific students to build rapport, improve their social skills, and boost their self:esteem through structured intervention.
  • Inclusion Support: Assist the schools Inclusion or Bridge unit, providing a safe space for students who find the mainstream classroom environment overwhelming.
  • Collaborative Strategy: Work alongside the SENCO and Pastoral Leads to implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and ensure a consistent approach to student welfare.
Essential Requirements

  • Are Naturally Resilient: You understand that behaviour is communication and can maintain a professional, non:judgmental attitude in challenging situations.
  • Have Relevant Experience: This could be from a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or even a background in psychology or the police/military.
  • Are a Strong Communicator: You can build trust with hard:to:reach teenagers while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Are Committed: You hold an enhanced DBS (or are willing ) and are 100 dedicated to Safeguarding and child welfare.
