Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within a Year 1 class at a welcoming primary school in Haringey.

You will support pupils with behavior and engagement, build positive relationships, and lead small-group interventions while working closely with the teacher and SENCo.

Weekly pay, free CPD and dedicated consultant support are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in schools or similar settings.
• Ability to support behaviour and engagement.
• Confident at building rapport with younger pupils.
• Energetic, patient and able to maintain boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils throughout the Year 1 classroom
• Provide targeted support for children who need help with behaviour and engagement

• Encourage pupils to manage emotions and make positive choices
• Use movement and active learning to re-engage pupils
• Support phonics, reading, writing and early Maths activities

• Reinforce clear boundaries and classroom expectations
• Work closely with the teacher and SENCo to monitor progress

Haringey, N15 (commutable from Tottenham, Seven Sisters, Stamford Hill, Wood Green and Edmonton)

£110-£120 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Are you a confident Teaching Assistant who is great at building relationships with younger pupils? Perhaps you have experience in behaviour support, mentoring, youth work or sports coaching and want to bring those skills into a primary school?

About the Role

• Support pupils throughout the Year 1 classroom
• Provide targeted support for children who need additional help with behaviour and engagement
• Build positive relationships and act as a strong role model

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children in schools, behaviour support, mentoring, youth work or sports coaching
• Confident supporting pupils who can display challenging behaviour
• Energetic and engaging while maintaining clear boundaries
• Able to build rapport with younger children
• Calm, patient and consistent
• Previous primary school experience is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong transferable experience
