Job summary

Educato Limited is seeking a caring Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Bury from September until the end of the academic year. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs, work with teachers and SENCOs, and help pupils develop positive behaviours, confidence and engagement in learning.

Hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm; role is full-time; safeguarding and pupil wellbeing are central.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or additional needs.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour and potentially difficult situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to build positive relationships and establish clear boundaries.
• Understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent source of support.
• Implement appropriate behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and help them develop coping strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
• Follow individual behaviour and support plans consistently.
• Assist pupils with their learning and encourage independence.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
• Maintain professional standards of safeguarding, confidentiality, and pupil wellbeing.
