Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support pupils near Scarborough in North Yorkshire. The role offers a competitive daily pay of £92–£110, is full-time and term-time only, with a September 2026 start.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, promoting positive engagement and emotional regulation across lessons. The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH or learning needs, be calm and patient, and hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable groups, including those with SEMH or additional learning needs.
  • Calm, patient and resilient, with ability to build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them engage positively with learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent role model.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive outcomes.
  • Support pupils during lessons, break times and transitions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to meet individual learning and behaviour targets.
  • Encourage development of social skills, resilience and independence.
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
