Job summary

The Milton Keynes Academy is seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to join the behaviour support team. This permanent, term-time role focuses on helping students with complex behavioural needs overcome barriers to learning and promote positive behaviour, inclusion and wellbeing.

Experience with social, emotional and mental health needs is essential; you will work across the wider school Monday to Friday, fostering safeguarding and professional relationships with families and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people
• Experience supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs
• Strong communication, interpersonal and listening skills
• Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations
• Ability to build professional relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies
• Organised and adaptable, managing competing priorities
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing
• Enhanced DBS and barred list checks required
• Prohibition from teaching search where appropriate

Responsibilities

• Support students with complex behavioural needs through consistent, tailored support
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and student wellbeing
• Manage challenging situations calmly, patiently and professionally
