Job summary

Monarch Education are partnering with a special needs school in Fishponds, Bristol to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex and additional needs.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, work closely with teachers and therapists, and use structured approaches to create a safe, consistent learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or relevant transferables.
• Full-time availability (Monday to Friday).
• Understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils aged 5-19 with SEND.
• Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex needs.
• Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.
• Support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
• Use structured approaches, including routines, visual supports, and sensory strategies.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team.
• Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment.

Behavioural Specialist Support – Full Time
Fishponds, Bristol- BS16

Monarch Education

Monarch Education are working with a special needs school in Fishponds, Bristol to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is heavily focused on supporting pupils with complex and additional needs, and requires someone who is committed to working consistently, full time in a specialist setting.

This is not a mainstream classroom role. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), complex learning needs, SEMH, communication needs, and physical needs. Staff are expected to provide hands-on, structured, and consistent support throughout the school day.

Important – Essential Criteria (Please Read Carefully)

Do not apply unless you meet the following requirements:

• Full-time availability (Monday to Friday)
• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, or relevant transferable experience (e.g. residential care, support work, youth work, or care settings)
• A clear understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behaviours
