Job summary

Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is seeking dedicated Support Assistants for a specialist secondary SEND setting in Oldbury. The role supports pupils with PMLD, SLD, ASC and other needs, working 32.5 hours weekly (8:30am–3:30pm).

Temporary role with potential to become permanent; start September 2026. Applicants should have Level 2/3 qualifications or a relevant degree and a patient, caring approach.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education/Childcare/Health & Social Care or a relevant degree.
• Experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEND or complex needs.
• Patient, resilient and caring approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships and support learner independence.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to support personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with complex SEND needs both in and outside the classroom.
• Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional development.
• Help students access learning through sensory, practical and personalised activities.
• Support personal care, feeding and mobility requirements where needed.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals.
• Use communication strategies and visual support tools to encourage engagement.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive outcomes for all learners.
• Create a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care or a relevant degree (essential)
• Experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEND, learning disabilities, autism or complex needs
• A patient, resilient and caring approach
• The ability to build positive relationships and encourage learner independence
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A willingness to support personal care needs when required
• Experience in specialist schools, healthcare, residential care, support work or community care environments is highly desirable
