Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a specialist school in Chelmsford. You will work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who face barriers to learning, helping them engage and build emotional wellbeing.

You will collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop personalised strategies that help pupils access learning in a safe, structured environment. Experience with SEMH, autism, ADHD or trauma is valued. A calm, patient approach is essential.

Qualifications

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, building trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. You will support students in developing positive behaviours, managing their emotions, and accessing learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

You will be calm under pressure, an excellent communicator, and able to build positive relationships with both students and colleagues. Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, or support work is welcomed, although a genuine passion for supporting young people is equally important.
