Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN/SEMH setting in Hillingdon. You will provide 1:1 and small-group behavioural and pastoral support to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them build resilience and engage with education.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with a daily rate of 120-140 GBP depending on experience. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to promote a safe, inclusive learning

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting children or young people in education/SEN/SEMH settings.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Strong knowledge of positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication with a calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Desirable qualifications in SEN, Behaviour, Education, Youth Work or Pastoral care; Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

  • Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation techniques.

  • Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment while encouraging attendance and resilience.

Salary: 120 - 140 per day

Behaviour Mentor - Hillingdon

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN/SEMH setting in Hillingdon, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent behavioural and pastoral support, and help learners develop the confidence, resilience and strategies they need to engage successfully with education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour and pastoral support, helping pupils manage emotions and develop positive behavioural strategies.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils experiencing SEN, SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to monitor behaviour, engagement and pupil progress.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment while encouraging attendance, engagement, confidence and resilience.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people within an education, SEN, SEMH, youth work or pastoral setting.
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation or social and emotional needs.
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with a calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Relevant SEN, Behaviour, Education, Youth Work or Pastoral qualifications are desirable; an Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is essential.
