Job summary

Principal Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor in Hillingdon to support secondary students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role is full-time until July 2027 and involves one-to-one and small-group mentoring to rebuild confidence in learning.

You will work with staff to track progress, help students stay engaged in lessons, and apply calm, firm boundaries when needed. An Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK are required, with ongoing training offered by the

Job description

Principal Education is a recruitment agency working on behalf of an alternative provision school in Hillingdon. The school supports secondary age students who can't currently attend mainstream school, and it needs a Behaviour Mentor full time until July 2027.

This role suits youth workers, sports coaches, mentors and anyone who connects naturally with young people who've been let down before. Consistency matters here, so the school wants someone who'll be there every day.

The role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will give targeted support to students with social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as needs like ADHD and autism. You'll work one to one and in very small groups, both in lessons and in mentoring sessions, helping students rebuild their confidence and their relationship with learning.

Your day will include:

• Mentoring students one to one and helping them set and reach goals
• Supporting students in lessons so they can stay engaged
• Staying calm and bringing situations back down when they get heated
• Working with staff to track progress and celebrate small wins

What you must bring

• Right to work in the UK
• Experience with young people in youth work, coaching, mentoring, care or schools
• Patience, empathy, composure and firm, fair boundaries
• Full time availability, Monday to Friday
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application
• Overseas police clearance if you've lived abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years

Pay and benefits

• £110 to £130 per day depending on experience, paid weekly
