Job summary

Qualiteach Education Group in Lewisham is seeking a Behaviour Mentor for a large primary school. You will provide 1:1 support to a child with challenging behaviour, helping them stay calm and engaged, and work closely with teachers to implement strategies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Position - Behaviour Mentor

A large and well-resourced primary school in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. You will be working closely with a child who can display challenging behaviour and requires consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day. The child can find it difficult to remain in the classroom and may leave the learning environment or run off when they become unsettled. As the Behaviour Mentor, your role will be to build a strong and trusting relationship with the child, understand their individual needs and help them regulate their behaviour before supporting them back into the classroom. You will spend a significant amount of time working 1:1 with the child, helping them develop positive strategies for managing their emotions and behaviour. You will also encourage them to engage with learning, develop their confidence and independence, and gradually increase their ability to remain within the classroom environment. Experience working with children with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs would be highly advantageous. Restraint training, positive handling training or a relevant physical intervention qualification would be desirable, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
