Job summary

The Woodlands School in Milton Keynes is seeking Behaviour Focused Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs. You will work at the Galley Hill Campus, a small specialist provision, helping students access learning in a safe, caring environment.

You will follow Positive Behaviour Support plans, use trauma-informed approaches, support daily routines, and work closely with staff to build strong relationships.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience not required but empathy and high emotional resilience are essential.
  • Must be willing to participate in swimming as part of curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Support learning, care and social-emotional needs in school and community settings.
  • Deliver personalised learning and high-quality support for students with high levels of behaviour needs.
  • Follow Positive Behaviour Support plans and use trauma-informed approaches.
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions and positive behaviour management to help students access learning.

BEHAVIOUR FOCUSED TEACHING ASSISTANTS REQUIRED

MKCC Grade E

32.5 hours or 37 hours

Actual starting salary £24,817.35 - £26,920.89
(term time only + 5 inset days)

Where experience exceeds expectations and evidence of a higher current salary is provided, candidates may be appointed at the top of the salary band.

The Woodlands School -Galley Hill Campusis a small, specialised provision within The Woodlands School, supporting young people with complex needs, including behaviour that challenges. As a secondary campus with only24 pupils, we pride ourselves on building strong, meaningful relationships where every student is known,understoodand celebrated.

We are looking for a staff member to join our Galley Hill team. Working at Galley Hill means being part of a close, dedicated team where collaboration, communication and shared problem-solving are at the heart of daily practice. Because of the size of the campus, teamwork and consistency are vital, and staff quickly develop positive, trusting relationships that make a real difference in our students’ lives.

You will be supporting children and young people with their learning, care and social-emotional needs, both in school and in community settings. This includes delivering personalised learning and providing high-quality support for students withhigh levelsof behaviour needs. You will follow Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans, use a trauma-informed and regulation-focused approach, and apply specialist strategies. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you willassistwith daily routines,transitionsand positive behaviour management to ensure each student can access learning and achieve their full potential in a safe,caringand well-structured environment.
