Job summary

Neath Port Talbot Council seeks four Basic Skills Training Tutors to deliver essential literacy, numeracy and digital literacy programmes for post-16 learners in the community. Roles are available as full or part-time with a hybrid working pattern, combining home and council workplaces in Port Talbot.

You will develop and deliver the Basic Skills delivery programme, support learners toward employment or further study, and collaborate with the team to assess learner needs and progress.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivery of post-16 provision.
• Experience of working with post-16 learners.
• Minimum Level 3 teaching qualification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide effective delivery of the Basic Skills delivery programme.
• Deliver Basic Skills courses to support learners with life skills and progression to employment or further education.
• Ensure learners receive appropriate support and guidance to achieve their potential.
• Work with the core team to complete assessments identifying learner needs.
• Provide documents for management including lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments and accreditation.
• Undertake teaching sessions in line with the programme.
• Promote continuous development and improvement of the programme.

Job Title: Basic Skills Training Tutor

Location of post: Adult Community Learning, Tirmorfa Centre, Marine Drive, Port Talbot. SA12 7NN

Your workstyle will be a mobile hybrid worker in this role which gives you the flexibility to work from home and from a variety of Council workplaces.

About the role

We are currently seeking 4 individuals to join our team as a Basic Skills Training Tutor. Full and Part-time hours available.

Adult Learning in the Community deliver a range of learning activities for post 16-year-olds in Neath Port Talbot.

Our main aim is to support and help those in greatest need and focuses on the needs of the communities. We provide a curriculum that is in line with Welsh Government priorities; Essential Skills - literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, Employability Skills and Engagement activities - to support Health and Wellbeing

As a Basic Skills Training Tutor, you will:

• Develop and provide effective delivery of the Basic Skills delivery programme.
• Deliver Basic Skills courses to give opportunity and support learners with life skills and into employment/further education.
• Ensure that learners undertaking training are given appropriate support and guidance in order to achieve their full potential.
• Work collaboratively with the core team to ensure assessments with learners are completed to identify their needs in relation to participation, progression and further education and/or employment opportunities.
• Provide necessary documents for management including lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments and accreditation are completed in the required timeframe.
• Undertake teaching sessions with learners in line with the programme.
• To promote continuous development and improvement of the programme

About you

Do you have:

• Experience in the delivery of post 16 provision
• Experience of working with post 16 learners
• Be in possession of relevant subject area experience/qualification.
• A minimum level 3 teaching qualification in accordance with sector standards
