Job summary

Altrad Services A/S at Harwell is seeking an experienced Basic Scaffolder for a fixed-term project running from 16 November 2026 to 11 March 2027, with a 38-hour week Monday to Thursday.

The role requires a scaffolding card, site experience, BPSS clearance, and the ability to read scaffold drawings and assemble various scaffold types. Pay is £22.50 per hour, with travel labour accepted.

Responsibilities

• Read scaffold drawings and erect scaffolding in line with drawings and specifications.
• Erect, dismantle and carry out various scaffold types: Tower, Independent, Birdcage, Slung, Cantilever, Truss-out, Proprietary systems.
• Follow safety policies and ensure safe working practices at all times.
• Report defects or issues to supervisor and maintain safe, clean work areas.
• Complete all paperwork as requested by Altrad and the client.
• Liaise daily with Site Supervisor/Manager and keep them informed of issues.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Basic Scaffolder to join the team at Harwell for the upcoming project.

The work pattern for this position is, Monday - Thursday, 38 hours. This is a fixed term position which requires BPSS clearance to be held or be willing to undergo. Starting 16th November 2026 until 11th March 2027 approx.

Travelling Labour is accepted for this position. Pay rate: £22.50 per hour

Key Deliverables:

• Having an understanding of company safety policy and ensuring that it is complied with.
• Use the correct tools, plant and equipment and keep them in good condition. Ensure they are safe before use
• Report to supervision any defects in plant and equipment, protective clothing or safety equipment
• Work in a safe manner at all times, avoid taking unnecessary risks
• Keep working areas and welfare facilities in a clean, tidy and safe condition at all times
• Report all accidents or incidents immediately to the supervisor or site manager
• Follow work instructions on the work order card
• Actively participate in pre-job risk assessments
• Keep working areas in a clean and tidy condition at all times
• Complete all the appropriate paperwork associated with the task as requested by Altrad and the client
• Liaise on a daily basis with the Site Supervisor/Manager and keep them fully informed of all issues.
• Adhere to SG4 requirements
• Read scaffold drawings and erect scaffold in line with drawings and specifications
• Erect, dismantle and carry out the following: Tower scaffolds, Independent scaffolds, Birdcage scaffolds, Slung scaffolds, Cantilever Scaffolds, Truss out Scaffolds, Proprietary scaffold system
• Temporary installed suspended scaffolds and access equipment
• Special design structures
• Comply with technical manual and relevant standards
• Give clear instructions which incorporate safety aspects and ensure that they are followed
