Job summary

MDCV UK Vineyards and Winery is seeking an experienced front-of-house Bartender to join our new high-end gastro pub team in Luddesdown, Kent. The role requires delivering top-tier hospitality, crafting cocktails, and upselling drinks in a fast-paced setting.

Ideal candidates will have bar experience in pubs, restaurants or gastropubs, strong guest interaction skills, and a keen eye for presentation. Evening and weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience bartending in pubs/restaurants or similar venues.
• Ability to prepare and serve cocktails in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of premium spirits and wine basics is a plus.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

• Delivering exceptional hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences through professional, engaging, and knowledgeable service.
• Preparing and serving cocktails, wines, beers, spirits, coffees, and soft drinks to consistently high standards.
• Promoting premium spirits, signature serves, cocktails, and wine pairings through natural and effective upselling.
• Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation across all bar and guest-facing areas.
• Ensuring both the pub bar and restaurant bar are fully stocked, organised, and service ready at all times.
• Supporting stock management processes, including deliveries, stock rotation, stock takes, and waste reduction.
• Working closely with the host, floor, and kitchen teams to deliver seamless service and consistent hospitality standards.
• Accurately processing orders and payments using POS systems and company procedures.
• Assisting with opening and closing procedures and ensuring all areas are left to the required standard.
• Ensuring compliance with licensing legislation, Challenge 25 requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies.
• Contributing ideas and feedback to improve service standards, the drinks offer, and the overall guest experience.

Essential

• Previous experience working behind a bar within a pub, restaurant, gastropub, hotel, or hospitality venue.
• Experience preparing and serving cocktails in a fast-paced environment.
• A genuine passion for hospitality, food, and drink.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage with guests.
• A positive, professional, and team-focused attitude.
• Ability to remain calm, organised, and efficient during busy service periods.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• Pride in personal presentation and professionalism.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak trading periods.

Desirable

• Experience working in a high-end gastropub, restaurant, cocktail bar, or hotel.
• Knowledge of premium spirits, cocktails, and current drinks trends.
• Experience using POS systems.
• Basic wine knowledge and an interest in learning food and wine pairing.
• Experience working within a quality-led hospitality environment.
• WSET level 1 or 2. (Training may be provided)
