Job summary

Hargreaves Industrial Services invites applications for a Barlow Leading Hand at Drax Power Station. The role drives shift operations, supervises the team, and ensures safety compliance across the Barlow area. A permanent position with a focus on equipment operation and hazard management.

The ideal candidate will hold IOSH safety credentials, have mobile plant experience, and be able to fault-find and report issues promptly. Health & safety are paramount in this site-based role.

Qualifications

• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent required.
• Experience with materials handling and mobile plant.
• Competent with HIS and Drax safety rules.
• Ability to fault-find and take corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Barlow Supervisor & OSS on operational requirements.
• Lead the shift team and supervise in the Barlow Supervisor's absence.
• Ensure compliance with Drax Barlow permits/planning consents.
• Hand over and report operational status to OSS.
• Deploy shift team per operational needs and briefing.
• Provide shift team with duty information and briefs.
• Inspect plant areas and perform safety audits.
• Support operations hands-on as agreed with supervisors.
• Record shift events and report to supervisors/OSS.
• Promote hazard reporting and manage hazards within Barlow area.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety information; obtain acknowledgments.
• Coordinate dust suppression, refueling, and housekeeping with OSS.
• Drive site vehicles and operate Barlow Plant (FELs, Dozers, ADTs, Excavators).
• Complete inspections of mound, plant, and equipment; report defects.
• Carry out other duties to ensure smooth site operation.
