Job summary

The Standard, London, located at Kings Cross, is hiring a Bar Back to support a high-volume, multi-outlet operation from early morning to late night. You will work with a dynamic bar team, assisting with setup, stocking and ensuring top-tier guest service across The Standard venues.

Ideal candidates are social, flexible and able to connect with guests from diverse backgrounds, with prior Bar Back experience preferred but not required. Excellent attitude and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Bar Back with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of guests from different backgrounds, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ boutique hotel, destination cocktail bar or pop-up bar
• Diverse range of lifestyle skills and applications from arts, music and entertainment industries are welcomed
• To be highly social, motivated and pro-active; acting with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
• A flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work shifts, including weekends and evenings as a number of our bars will operate late night licences

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and staging on the bar counter, fridges, back bar and speed rails for service.
• Ensure the bar has sufficient quantities of all its equipment such as glasses, drinks and crockery.
• Act as the right hand to the bartenders, keeping the workspace tidy and stocked to standards.

Your role

As a Bar Back at The Standard, London, you will become part of an exceptional bar team that provides an extensive drinks service across our bars and restaurants. You are passionate about service, have a good basic understanding food and drink and the eagerness to serve in order to create an environment where you will not only delight our guest, but also excite and surprise them to create the ultimate bar experience in London, that is anything but Standard!

You assist with the preparation and staging on the bar counter, fridges, back bar and speed rails for service. You ensure the bar has sufficient quantities of all its equipment such as glasses, drinks and crockery. During service, you are the right hand to the bartenders and will ensure the workspace stays tidy and organised and the bar stays stocked according to standards.

Do you have what it takes to be a Bar Back at The Standard, London?

While we take every detail of design and guest experience seriously, we do not take ourselves too seriously. ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging. You’ll intrinsically understand the unique microcosm and the context of our venues and city you represent.

While prior experience as a Bar Back is preferred, all are welcome at The Standard. You must still have however have an uncompromised and natural flair for service and be able to build genuine relationships with guests. In addition to this you will also need….

• In addition to those with experience we are actively seeking candidates with a diverse range of lifestyle skills and welcome applications from those in the arts, music and entertainment industries

• A flexible approach to working hours with the ability to work shifts, including weekends and evenings as a number of our bars will operate late night licences
