Job summary

The Bank of England in Loughton, Essex, is recruiting for a people‑management role within the Banknote Operations team to deliver daily and weekly targets across Mutilated Notes, Note Distribution, Counterfeit Analysis, Returned Notes, Quality Control and Machine Testing Framework.

You will lead and develop staff, allocate tasks, and, after training, act as an Expert Witness in counterfeit cases, representing the Bank in court and supporting investigations, while maintaining security, accuracy

Qualifications

• Experience managing operational teams and driving performance.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Ability to adapt plans to changing operational requirements.
• Understanding of risk management and controls in high-value environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Managing operational teams and pooled resources to meet daily and weekly targets across our functions.
• Select capable team members from available resources to handle tasks as needed, collaborating with other managers to address key priorities.
• On completion of training, act as an Expert Witness in counterfeit-related cases, representing the Bank in court proceedings and supporting law enforcement investigations; attendance in UK courts may be required.
• Maintaining operational controls focused on security, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Preparing statistical data and presenting performance reports to senior managers.
