Arden College in the North West is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant on a bank basis to support across all areas alongside Tutors, promoting independence and building supportive relationships with students.

Ideal candidates have experience in education and a Level 2 qualification, though not essential; resilience, communication and organisation are highly valued, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and DBS checks.

Job description

Arden College is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team on a bank basis!

We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all areas. The successful candidate will work alongside Tutors, supporting students with their learning and promoting their independence while establishing good relationships, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

Arden College is situated on 2 sites in Southport and Banks on the North West coast of Sefton and Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. Arden is a specialist college for students aged 16-25 with autism and complex barriers to learning. The college works in line with the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda in promoting the independence skills, health, employability and community inclusion of the students.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have previous experience supporting in an education setting and have a Level 2 qualification, however this is not a requirement. Candidates should have the following qualities and characteristics:

• Communication - Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
• Organisation - Strong organisational skills are important to support the class teacher and young people with educational activities
• Caring - Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
• Attentive - No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
