Job summary

Optegra is recruiting a Bank Optometrist for the Preston, Lancashire clinic. This zero-hour, temporary part-time role offers flexible shift patterns and an hourly rate up to £50, depending on experience.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, performing vision examinations, pre/post-operative assessments, and patient care within our clinical framework. A strong background in refractive, hospital, or high-street optometry is essential.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in refractive, high street or hospital settings.
• Experience with patient administration and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Carry out pre- and post-operative consultations to assess patient suitability.
• Examinations for refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and post-surgery clinics and document findings in EMR.
• Provide health advice and first-line clinical guidance with appropriate referrals.
• Maintain awareness of equipment safety and infection control policies.

The Role As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.
• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist
• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment
• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
