Job summary

Orbis Education & Care is seeking a Bank Learning Support Assistant to support Dan Y Coed School in Gowerton and Ty Trafle School in West Cross, Swansea. You will assist teachers with lessons, provide one-to-one and small group support, and help pupils develop social and academic skills.

The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent); training is provided for learners with additional needs. DBS Enhanced with Barred List is required.

Qualifications

• Holds GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Ideally experience with children with additional learning needs; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers to deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils to develop social and academic skills.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing with patience and encouragement.
• Assist with personal care routines where required, ensuring comfort and dignity.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support each pupil's progress.
• Organise and participate in creative, hands-on learning activities.

About Our Swansea Schools

As a member of our bank team, you'll have the opportunity to work across both of our specialist schools in Swansea:

• Dan Y Coed School, Gowerton – A purpose-built school offering a calm, structured learning environment with small class sizes and highly personalised support.
• Ty Trafle School, West Cross – A specialist setting focused on helping pupils build confidence, independence, and life skills through tailored educational programmes and therapeutic support.

As a Learning Support Assistant, You Will

• Support teachers to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils, helping them develop social and academic skills.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through patience, empathy, and encouragement.
• Assist with personal care routines where required, ensuring every child's comfort and dignity.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support each pupil's individual progress.
• Help organise and take part in creative, hands-on learning activities, both in and out of the classroom.

• Has a caring, compassionate attitude and a genuine passion for helping children and young people.
• Brings energy, patience, and a positive approach to every day.
• Is adaptable, reliable, and confident working across different school environments.
• Holds GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Ideally has experience working with children with additional learning needs, although full training is provided.
