Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is seeking a Bank Kitchen Assistant to support a dedicated team in providing safe, clean and nutritious meals for patients. The role offers flexible shifts to fit around your lifestyle, with supervision and training provided within a hospital catering environment.

DBS check is required prior to starting. The position involves food preparation, stock checking, dishwashing and maintaining high hygiene standards in a clinical setting.

• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision.
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
• Enhanced DBS check required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes & store them properly.
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and keep the kitchen clean & hygienic.
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment per Cygnet procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is our state-of-the-art PICU & Acute hospital for women, in the West Midlands.

The service has two wards, a 12-bed PICU ward and a 15-bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Oldbury has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
