Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is seeking a Bank Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation, basic cooking tasks and kitchen duties across shifts. You will help maintain a clean, safe kitchen and assist with stock, deliveries and compliance with COSHH regulations.

Flexible bank shifts provide an opportunity to fit work around your availability. Ideal candidates will have catering experience, strong teamwork skills and a commitment to high cleanliness standards in a care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably in a care setting.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and maintain high cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation and kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils and dishes and store them properly.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients; check deliveries and assist stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and keep the kitchen clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment per procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is our state-of-the-art PICU & Acute hospital for women, in the West Midlands. The service has two wards, a 12-bed PICU ward and a 15-bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Oldbury has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Your Day-to-Day

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks &o ther kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.

• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels
