Job summary

Agincare Weymouth is seeking a reliable kitchen assistant to join a Gloucestershire care home team. You will help the chef create healthy, balanced meals, respect dietary needs and allergens, and contribute to a warm, safe dining environment for residents.

The role is bank, with flexible hours; prior kitchen experience is valued, and basic food safety and COSHH knowledge is helpful. A rewarding opportunity to develop in health and social care, with training and benefits on offer.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 months right to work in the UK.
• Previous kitchen experience, preferably within a care home setting.

Responsibilities

• Support the chef to create healthy meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens.
• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen area, with hygiene in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
• Offer support, communication and engagement to the residents.

What is required from you?

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

• Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
