Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is seeking a Bank Chef to prepare, cook and serve meals in a secure mental health facility. You will maintain sanitation, manage stock, and supervise kitchen staff while upholding Health and Safety standards.

Flexibility is required to work ad-hoc shifts (7am–6pm, 7 days a week). DBS check is enhanced; a City & Guilds/Catering NVQ is preferred. Competitive hourly rate with holiday pay and meals on duty.

Qualifications

• Holder of a food hygiene certificate with high personal hygiene standards.
• Preferably experienced in the care sector.
• Able to plan nourishing and attractive menus within available budgets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals, hot and cold.
• Maintain sanitation in the kitchen.
• Wash up and cleaning of kitchen and dining area.
• Order stocks and check deliveries.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff.
• Ensure Health and Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Maintain records of supplies and temperatures.
