Bank Chef/Cook

We are seeking creative, enthusiastic, and flexible Chefs to join our team on a bank/casual basis, providing cover across our six sites in Bath, Keynsham, and Midsomer Norton. This role supports our catering service during staff leave, absences, or busy periods by covering vacancies and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

As a bank/casual chef, you can work flexibly, choosing shifts that suit your availability. Whether you’re available for occasional days, longer-term bookings, or evening and weekend shifts, this role offers flexibility. Please note that shifts are not guaranteed as this is a bank/casual role.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the effective running of our catering service in the absence of regular staff.
• Managing a kitchen independently at one of our Community Resource Centres (CRCs) or Extra Care Housing (ECH) sites.
• Ordering and receiving produce.
• Supervising kitchen staff.
• Maintaining records and hygiene standards.
• Delivering high-quality catering to meet residents’ needs.

Our Facilities

Community Resource Centres (CRCs)

Located in Bath and Midsomer Norton, serving 30-45 residents, providing care for older, vulnerable adults including those with dementia.

Extra Care Housing (ECH)

Four sites offering independent living with support, staffed 24/7 for care and household assistance in a safe environment.

What We’re Looking For

• Level 2 qualification in cookery, catering, or hospitality (or equivalent).
• Level 2 Food Safety certificate.
• Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate.
• First Aid training.
• Experience in professional catering, including large-scale catering.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food hygiene, health and safety, and stock control.
• Understanding of dietary needs of specific groups, such as the elderly.
• Strong prioritisation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic approach.
