Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior People Advisor to lead a busy employee relations caseload and advise on workforce policies within the UHB+ structure and the wider People Directorate HR service.

The role focuses on compassionate, objective HR practice at pace, with opportunities to influence colleague experience, governance and workforce integration across the Trust. Flexible, hybrid working is offered.

Job description

Supporting over 3,000 colleagues working across one of the largest NHS staff Banks, this is an opportunity to join the wider People Directorate HR team, with an immediate focus on UHB+ and the colleagues who help keep services running and patients cared for across UHB. The Bank is far more than a temporary workforce service.

It provides essential workforce flexibility, helping services respond to staffing shortages, unexpected absences and periods of increased demand across our hospitals. Every day, Bank colleagues support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care across all services.

We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys pace, variety and problem-solving. As Senior People Advisor, you will have a key role in supporting UHB+ colleagues with a broad range of employee relations and workforce matters. Working closely with the UHB+ leadership team, you will help navigate casework confidently, apply people policies fairly and strengthen their approach to attraction, engagement and retention of Bank colleagues.

The role will be closely aligned to UHB+, while remaining part of the wider People Directorate HR service. This means you will bring your expertise to the priorities of the Bank, including good governance, colleague experience and stronger integration of Bank colleagues within the wider UHB family.

You'll be at the heart of a busy operational service, leading a diverse employee relations caseload and advising on workforce policies and procedures. Your work will support timely, fair and practical outcomes on issues that affect staffing, service delivery and colleague experience across the Trust.
