NHS Professionals in Prestwich is seeking a Band 7 HR Manager to lead HR advisory support for senior managers within a designated group of directorates, providing expert HR management advice and guidance on policy to support organisational change and workforce planning.

You will partner with directors, develop managerial capability, and manage complex employee relations with a pragmatic approach, while ensuring consistent, high-quality service across the Trust.

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (IPD CPD ongoing).
  • Corporate CIPD membership and CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • Strong communication at all levels and influencing/negotiation abilities.
  • Proven decision-making and organisational skills with ability to prioritise.

Responsibilities

  • Act as strategic partner to directorates and senior management, aligning HR and business plans.
  • Ensure consistent professional service across directorates with best-practice HR knowledge.
  • Develop line managers’ capability through coaching and guidance.
  • Influence and drive Directorate Workforce Planning and HR approaches supporting business objectives.
  • Lead complex employee relations cases with pragmatic, advisory coaching.
  • Provide guidance on national/local terms and conditions of employment.
  • Maintain expertise in HRM areas including employment law and case law.

Job description

Job Title: Band 7 HR Manager

Location: Hybrid -Bury New Road, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 3BL (across Trust sites with home working available)

Contract: 2 months with possible extension

Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours, Mon-Fri)

Salary: £26.56 per hour

We’re looking for an experienced HR Manager to manage and lead the provision of HR Advisory support to senior managers within a designated group of directorates and the provision of expert human resources management advice, offer guidance on human resources policy to support organisational change and workforce planning & productivity initiatives.

What you’ll be doing
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the designated directorates, senior management and their teams, develop thorough understanding of the business plans and HR issues to ensure that their workforce requirements are identified and support planned and delivered on a timely basis.
  • Ensure the provision of a consistent professional service across directorates, underpinned by sound knowledge and the principles of good practice.
  • Develop the management capability of line managers, coaching and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to handle staff management responsibilities in line with the Trust’s strategic direction.
  • Influence and drive business thinking and support the development of the Directorate Workforce Plan, developing HR approaches that support operational business objectives, organisational design and resource plans.
  • Take responsibility for the management of complex employee relations cases through advice and coaching, ensure the approach is pragmatic.
  • Facilitate advice and guidance on national/local terms and conditions of employment.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in specified areas of Human Resources management practice, including employment legislation and case law, impart this knowledge to managers and staff across the Trust.
About you

We’re looking for someone who can support the directorates to identify problems, develop appropriate interventions and solutions by facilitating improvement processes concerning individual and team performance and change management.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management. Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development post Grad. IPD.
  • Corporate membership of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified
  • Able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisations, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively
  • Able to demonstrate sound decision making.
  • IT skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and meet competing deadlines.
  • Progressive and innovate approach to HRM and the contribution of HR to the delivery of a modern NHS service.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Able to stay calm under pressure.
  • Able to display tact and diplomacy
  • Able to remain impartial.
