Job description

Physiotherapist

Are you a qualified band 6 Physiotherapist with experience of delivering high-quality care? Do you have a passion for working with babies, children, or young people who have complex needs? Then we would love to hear from you!

Here at Rainbows Children's Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 babies, children, and young people living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. We are currently seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dedicated physiotherapy team at our Loughborough hospice.

You will work closely with babies, children, and young people to provide exceptional, person-centered care. You will also collaborate with community teams and be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team in delivering the highest standard of care.

Hours: This role is on a part-time basis (22.5 hours per week), Monday to Wednesday. There is a requirement to work one late shift per week, times of 11:00 am-7:00 pm or 12:00 pm-8:00 pm. You will also be required to work one weekend per month on a rota pattern.

Travel: There will be a requirement for you to travel within the East Midlands for external training, collaborative working with community teams, and community visits on occasion.

About the role

To provide specialist physiotherapy care to babies, children, and young people at Rainbows. Some of the key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Support with babies, children, and young people's respiratory plans and escalation plans with support from the palliative care team.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and participating in hydrotherapy sessions.
  • Keep up to date with developments in palliative care Physiotherapy.
  • Work as a member of the hospice multi-disciplinary team.
  • Act as an effective and positive role model.
Requirements

Essential requirements include:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or completion of a Chartered Society of Physiotherapy accredited Masters Degree Course.
  • Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working as a Band 6 Physiotherapist.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of caring for children and young people with long-term palliative care needs.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe clinical practice including risk assessment.

Desirable requirements include:

  • Experience working with children with complex care/special needs.
  • Teaching skills and experience.
  • Palliative Care experience.
  • Current registration with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Experience working with children with complex neurological needs.
