Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Ophthalmology Nurse to join the ophthalmology services across our sites. The role offers a development pathway with a personalised induction and ongoing professional development supported by a dedicated practice education facilitator.

You will work in ophthalmology with cross-site, rotational duties across outpatient and day-case settings, leading nurse-led clinics, coordinating tests, and supervising junior staff while promoting safe,

Qualifications

• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care.
• Provide advice and support junior staff and learners in delivering Safe, Personal and Effective Care across all service areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate nurse-led outpatient services and clinics in ophthalmology.
• Provide leadership and coordination to support patients and clinicians; supervise healthcare assistants in visual assessments, diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Support training programs, teach and assess competence of junior staff, and foster professional development within the team.
