What you will do:

  • Specimen receipt, labelling, and preparation including dissection, embedding, microtomy
  • Perform staining procedures such as routine H&E, special stains, and immunohistochemistry, and possibly assist with frozen sections or OSNA
  • Participate in quality control procedures, validation processes, equipment maintenance, and stock management
  • Supervise and provide training to Band 5 scientists, trainees, and support staff
  • Engage in digital pathology initiatives, UKAS/ISO accreditation, audits, and the introduction of new methodologies or equipment
  • Offer flexible service delivery through extended hours, weekend shifts, and contribute to a 24/7 rota as needed
