Job summary

Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in Ilford is seeking a Band 4 Therapy Assistant on a six-month fixed-term contract to support the frailty team with an exercise programme for elderly patients.

You will work under the guidance of qualified therapists, providing routine and non-routine clinical support, assisting with patient assessments, and contributing to discharge planning and care plans within a busy therapy department.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant NHS training or certification (Care certificate or equivalent).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow clinical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled routine and non-routine clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team.
• Accept routine referrals, assess and treat per protocols, monitor progress, and discharge when goals are met.
• Work independently with supervision as required and liaise with therapists to coordinate patient care.
• Help organise team induction and in-service training programmes and provide training to colleagues.
• Carry out other duties as needed to ensure service delivery.
