Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board in Carmarthen is seeking a Nursing Support Worker (Band 3) to join Morlais Ward at Glangwili Hospital. The role supports registered nurses and engages with patients through direct care, observation, and psychosocial activities as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The post requires flexibility to cover 24/7 shifts, including nights, with a focus on patient safety, dignity, and privacy, and an emphasis on Welsh language skills where possible.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
• Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures including safeguarding and GDPR.
• Ability to complete certified PMVA training during induction.
• Certified/accredited PMVA training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of patient care.
• Work in support of qualified nurses and be directed by them.
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with patients and ensure safety and well-being.
• Ensure confidentiality of patients and clinical documents at all times.
• Report any complaints, untoward events, or incidents to qualified nursing staff and complete records where appropriate.
• Respect the dignity, privacy and independence of patients.
• Be involved in development of patient-centred programmes.
• Be aware of Mental Health Act restrictions and record/report accordingly.
• Respond to emergency calls under the guidance of qualified staff.
