Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant for the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. This fixed term/secondment position runs until 30 September 2027 and may require permission from your current line manager before applying.

The role involves direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, person-centred care to support patient flow and reduce hospital stays.

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject.
• Essential: Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
• Essential: Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting (e.g., safeguarding and GDPR).

Responsibilities

• Patient care and support: assisting with dressing, oral hygiene, toileting and mobility while maintaining dignity.
• Infection prevention: maintain high standards of infection control and equipment care.
• Nutrition and hydration: assist with eating and drinking, support independence where possible.
• Monitoring and reporting: record vital signs and BMI, report findings to the registered professional.
• Diagnostic support: collect samples and perform point-of-care tests with proper handling.
• Pressure area care: provide pressure relief and monitor skin condition.
• Compassionate care: empathise with patients, carers and families.
• Documentation: maintain accurate records in line with clinical standards.
• Communications: convey routine information effectively to patients, carers and staff.
