PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do

This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Gastroenterology team as an apprentice patient pathway administrator.

Alongside the job role you will be completing the Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship. If you already hold this qualification at Level 3 or above, then you are not eligible to apply.

The ideal candidate will have a background working within the NHS or Healthcare Services and proven experience in a similar role.

This is a key operational role responsible for coordinating patient pathways from referral through investigation, treatment, follow-up and discharge. You will proactively manage waiting lists, support Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards, coordinate outpatient appointments, monitor patient pathways and work closely with consultants, nurses and operational teams to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care.

A flexible working attitude is desired, along with the ability to work to ever changing demands and priorities. The workload is challenging and varied; therefore you must be able to prioritise your work with minimal supervision, as well as working as part of a team.

Please read the advert and Job Description carefully before applying, ensuring that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the criteria in the person specification.

To be eligible for an Apprenticeship you must meet the following criteria:

Be 16 years old or over (NOTE: make this 18 or over for clinical vacancies)

Have the right to work in the UK with a Visa that covers the duration of the apprenticeship

Have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the past 3 years

Main duties of the job

Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Gastroenterology service and the Clinical Diagnostic Unit.

Contribute to Trust KPIs, primarily 18-week referral to treatment targets.

Validate and monitor the Trust’s performance against referral to treatment standards. Ensuring patients receive treatment within the required timescales through tracking and auditing of elective care patient pathways.

Support the trust in maintaining and improving patient pathway from referral to treatment by collecting, processing and actively seeking solutions to ensure that each patient is managed throughout their pathway in line with national and local targets.

Working for our organisation

We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
