Job summary

Pilgrim’s Europe is seeking a Bagging Operative in Grantham to operate and monitor the bagging line in a frozen chicken production environment. You will ensure safe, efficient operation, maintain product quality, and uphold food safety standards.

Key duties include monitoring bag filling/sealing, performing regular quality checks, and completing production, quality and traceability records. Health and safety, hygiene, and cold-store practices are essential in this role.

Job description

The Bagging Machine Operative is responsible for operating and monitoring the bagging machine within a frozen chicken production environment. The role involves ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the equipment while maintaining product quality and food safety standards.

Key responsibilities include monitoring the correct filling and sealing of bags, carrying out regular quality checks on packaging (seal integrity, weight accuracy, labelling, and product presentation), and promptly identifying and addressing any defects or non-conformances. The operative performs basic machine adjustments and minor repairs to minimise downtime and reports any technical issues requiring maintenance support.

The operative is also responsible for completing all relevant production, quality, and traceability documentation accurately and in line with company procedures and legal requirements. Working in a frozen environment, the role requires adherence to health and safety, hygiene, and cold-store working practices at all times, as well as effective communication with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday - 22.00-06.00

Salary starts from £32 136 per year, £618 per week

Location: Grantham. NG31 8HZ
