Job summary

Pilgrim’s Europe in Grantham is seeking a Bagging Machine Operative to run and monitor the bagging line in a frozen chicken production environment, ensuring safe, efficient operation and product quality. You will perform quality checks on packaging, adjust the machine as needed, and maintain production and traceability records while collaborating with supervisors, quality and maintenance teams.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday - 06.00-14.00/14.00-22.00 alternating.

Qualifications

• Experience operating packaging equipment is preferred.
• Ability to follow food safety standards and hygiene protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the bagging machine in a frozen chicken production environment.
• Ensure correct filling, sealing, labeling, and weight checks on bags.
• Perform routine quality checks and report defects or issues to maintenance.
• Complete production and traceability documentation accurately and on time.

The Bagging Machine Operative is responsible for operating and monitoring the bagging machine within a frozen chicken production environment. The role involves ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the equipment while maintaining product quality and food safety standards.

Key responsibilities include monitoring the correct filling and sealing of bags, carrying out regular quality checks on packaging (seal integrity, weight accuracy, labelling, and product presentation), and promptly identifying and addressing any defects or non-conformances. The operative performs basic machine adjustments and minor repairs to minimise downtime and reports any technical issues requiring maintenance support.

The operative is also responsible for completing all relevant production, quality, and traceability documentation accurately and in line with company procedures and legal requirements. Working in a frozen environment, the role requires adherence to health and safety, hygiene, and cold-store working practices at all times, as well as effective communication with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday - 06.00-14.00/14.0022.00 Alternating

Salary starts from £30 056 per year, £578 per week
