Engineering Manager – Baggage

Salary: From £59,795 + £4,750 Flex Allowance + Up to 20% Bonus + Benefits

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient, and resilient Baggage System, managing one of three major flows within the airport. This involves full accountability for system safety, reliability, and availability of Gatwick's critical infrastructure.

The role requires strong leadership of the maintenance team, effective management of third-party vendors, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Baggage Engineering team to execute maintenance plans.
• Ensure optimal performance and continuous improvement of Baggage assets to enhance system availability.
• Promote a strong EH&S culture to reduce incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including airline teams and handling agents.
• Manage costs and contracts to stay within operational budgets.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in engineering preferred; HND with significant experience accepted.
• Proven leadership in promoting health and safety culture.
• Experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Ability to ensure system performance meets and exceeds OBP and CSS metrics.
• Experience leading failure investigations related to baggage systems.
